On South Africa Clouds: Save the Animals!

When I thought about South Africa, one of the first things that came to my mind and excited me was the fact that I could have the possibility to see so many animals in their natural environment.

The thing however we sadly discover was how poaching is still a very serious problem in all the territory of this country.

We had two very important events: the visit at the Wildlife College and at the Hesc.

The Southern African Wildlife College was conceptualized in 1993 and established in 1996 by the World Wide Fund for Nature- WWF South Africa in close cooperation with interested and affected parties in southern Africa, including national and provincial government departments, other conservation agencies and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Through conservation education, training and skills development, the Southern African Wildlife College seeks to give protected area managers the motivation and skills they need to become partners in saving our continent’s natural heritage.

For boys and girls participating at the program it is a real military training because the situations they will face can be extremely dangerous. We were with them one morning and it was an unique experience.

The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre is a unique African wildlife facility focusing on conservation and the sustainability of rare, vulnerable and threatened species. Their work and mission is really admirable and inside of their centre we could see cheetahs, wild dogs, ostriches, lions and many vultures. The rhinos were too shy and did not show up. The Baobab Bush Lodge was our “home” in Hoedspruit area and we really have to thank Luca and Valeria for the hospitality. We were pampered, even with a super delicious spaghetti: you know that Italians always miss the pasta. 🙂

Quando pensavo al viaggio in Sudafrica, una delle prime cose che mi veniva alla mente e che mi emozionava molto, è il fatto che avrei potuto vedere tanti animali nel loro ambiente naturale e così è effettivamente stato.

La cosa però che per me, per noi, è stata importante, seppur molto cruda e triste, è stata toccare con mano il tema del bracconaggio, che aimè è un gravissimo problema presente in tutto il territorio di questo paese attraverso testimonianze dirette.

Abbiamo avuto due occasioni molto importanti: la visita al Wildlife college e all’ Hesc, il centro di recupero animali. Il Wildlife college, appoggiato dal wwf, è una scuola dove vengono addestrati i Rangers che hanno il compito di sorvegliare i parchi e le riserve contro i bracconieri. Per i ragazzi e ragazze che partecipano al programma è un vero e proprio addestramento militare perché le situazioni che dovranno affrontare possono essere estremamente pericolose. Siamo stati con loro tutta una mattinata ed è stata un’ esperienza unica.

L’ Hesc, Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre è un centro di recupero di animali, animali che sono stati feriti e che sono in riabilitazione. Il loro lavoro e missione è veramente ammirevole e all’ interno della loro riserva abbiamo potuto vedere ghepardi, licaoni, struzzi, leoni e tantissimi avvoltoi. I rinoceronti erano timidi e non si sono fatti vedere.

Il Baobab Bush Lodge è stata la nostra “casa” nella zona di Hoedspruit e dobbiamo veramente ringraziare per accoglienza di Luca e Valeria che per tutta la durata del nostro soggiorno ci hanno coccolati e viziati, anche con un super spaghetto delizioso: si sa che a noi italiani manca sempre la pasta.

Good Morning Mr. Tellinger

Good morning!!

Today I want to let you in on a secret. One of the main reasons Syusy and I craved to undertake this long journey to South Africa was our interest in Michael Tellinger’s mind-blowing discoveries.

Michael is an internationally renowned researcher who, thanks to his archaeological discoveries and consciousness, is bringing to light new information about the origin of humankind.

We were the first Italian group to visit him and film those places that besides being of incredibly beautiful show very precise astronomical correspondences and seem to have an unexpected use.

I was always interested in “unofficial“ theories despite my degree in Archeology, because I don’t believe that universities will provide you with all the answers and unbiased information you need to let you grasp the mysterious and inexplicable origins of the human species, let alone can a university truly teach you how the universe really works.

According to Tellinger these places in South Africa are the physical evidence of what the famous Sumerologist Zecharia Sitchin was talking about in his books. For Syusy, who interviewed him in New York, it felt like closing a circle of years of travel and research.

The Adam’s Calendar was the first stop of our day and it is located on a plateau overlooking a valley where you can see three distinct pyramids. Yes!! Pyramids!

This place exerts a very strong energy and the two big stones at the center are perfectly oriented to the solstices and equinoxes. For the Zulu Shamans it was a sacred place for rituals until a few years ago, and it is said to have a specific function regarding the origin of our species.

In the afternoon we visited one of the stone circles, circular structures that have been found in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. Tellinger told us that according to his studies he calculated that there are about 10 to 20 million of these circles, all distinctly different, with shapes that may seem like cell structures, flowers of fractals, all interconnected by a tunnel system.

Michael is also the creator and president of the Ubuntu movement, a project that has been expanding all over the world with the goal to free all human beings from manipulation on both socio-economic and spiritual levels. You can find out more here.

Buongiorno!!

Oggi continuo a parlarti del Sudafrica e voglio svelarti un segreto.

Uno dei motivi principali che ha spinto me e Syusy ad intraprendere questo lungo viaggio è stato il nostro interesse per Michael Tellinger, ricercatore di fama internazionale che con le sue scoperte archeologiche sta portando nuove informazioni sull’ origine dell’ uomo.

Siamo stati la prima troupe italiana ad andarlo a trovare e filmare luoghi che oltre ad essere di incredibile bellezza, hanno corrispondenze astronomiche ben precise e un uso per lo più inaspettato.

Da sempre sono interessata a tematiche non “ufficiali” nonostante la mia laurea in Archeologia perché credo che a livello accademico non vengano date tutte risposte ai veri quesiti esistenziali per provare a capire il funzionamento del nostro universo e di noi stessi.

Secondo Tellinger questi luoghi sono l’ evidenza fisica di ciò di cui parlava il famosissimo sumerologo Zecharia Sitchin nei suoi libri e per Syusy, che lo aveva intervistato a New York, è stato come chiudere il cerchio di anni di viaggi e ricerche.

Il calendario d’ Adamo, prima tappa della nostra giornata, si trova su di un altopiano affacciato su di una pianura nella quale si possono vedere ben distinte tre piramidi. Si!! Ho detto piramidi!

Questo luogo dall’ energia fortissima avrebbe avuto si la funzione di caledario perché orientato perfettamente con i solstizi ed equinozi, ma avrebbe avuto una funzione specifica anche per quanto riguarda l’ origine della nostra specie.

Gli sciamani zulu lo consideravano un luogo sacro e fino a pochi anni fa vi facevano i loro rituali.

Siamo andati anche vedere uno degli stone circles, strutture circolari che si trovano in Sudafrica, Zimbabwe e Botswana e che secondo Tellinger sarebbe tra i 10 e 20 milioni, un diverso dall’ altro, con forme che possono sembrare cellule, fiori, collegate con tunnel.

Today I want to tell you a very special story.

It’s the story of two white lionesses that were abandoned by their mother just a few days of birth.

Mr. West, a former ranger, found them in the bush and knowing what would be the end if you leave them there, he decided to take them with him.

These two lionesses now are two years old and they are living happily thanks to the dedication and the love their adopted father gives her every day.

In our trip to South Africa we were guests at the Lion Tree Top, a lodge nestled in a private reserve where the rooms are built on trees between an unspoiled nature and many animals.

A place like this is one of those that will remain indelible in my memory not only for its beauty but also for giving me the opportunity for the first time in my life to get so close to a lion. I was immediately reminded of the majesty of one of the most powerful goddess in Egypt, Sekhmet; I admit their closeness to me it was scary, but it was one of most amazing experience of my life.

Mr. West has given them the best life they could have, and every day he brings them to a walk into the bush giving the possibility to the guests to do it with him!!!!

Having been a Ranger, he was the first person to tell us about the terrible problem of poaching in South Africa, and that there are private reserves where animals are bred just for being killed by hunters who pay tens of thousands of Euros to do it.

In the next post I will speak out in more detail this problem because we went to visit the Wildlife College where the rangers are trained. Do not miss it!

Oggi vi devo raccontare una storia, una storia veramente speciale.

E’ la storia di due leonesse bianche che a pochi giorni dalla nascita furono abbandonate dalla loro mamma. Mr. West, ex ranger, le trovò nel bush e sapendo quale sarebbe stata la loro fine se lasciate lì, decise di prenderle a vivere con sè

Queste due leonesse adesso hanno due anni e vivono felici grazie alla dedizione e all’ amore che il loro papà adottivo le dà tutti i giorni. Nel nostro viaggio in Sudafrica siamo stati ospiti nel suo Lion Tree Top, un lodge immerso in una riserva privata dove le camere sono costruite sugli alberi tra una natura incontaminata e tanti animali.

Un luogo del genere è uno di quelli che rimarranno indelebili nella mia memoria non solo per la sua bellezza ma anche per avermi dato la possibilità per la prima volta nella mia vita di avvicinarmi a due leonesse. Mi hanno ricordato subito la maestosità della Dea egizia Sekhmet, poderosa come loro; ammetto che la loro vicinanza mi incuteva timore, ma l’ estasi nel guardarle la superava di gran lunga.

Il Sig. West ha dato loro la miglior vita che potessero avere, le ha salvate, e ogni giorno le porta a “passeggio” per il bush dando la possibilità anche ai suoi ospiti di farlo insieme a lui.

Essendo stato un Ranger, è stata la prima persona a raccontarci del terribile problema del bracconaggio in Sudafrica, e di come esistano riserve private in cui gli animali vengono allevati solo per essere poi uccisi da cacciatori che pagano decine di migliaia di euro per farlo.

Ti rendi conto in che mondo siamo? Nei prossimi post vi parlerò più in dettaglio di questo problema perchè siamo andati a visitare il Wildlife College dove vengono addestrati i ranger. Non perdertelo!

A day in Phalaborwa

Good morning!!!

I am happy to be here againg to tell you more about my trip to South Africa with Syusy and today I want to introduce you Phalaborwa, a town located in the northwest of South Africa right near the Kruger National Park.

We had Daniela owner of the Matimba Bush Lodge, as a special guide for these days, and we had the opportunity to know more about the township and about the life of South African black people.

We met the young children of the school, we enjoyed a traditional dance and we have great time with amazing women: it was a very strong moment for me in a reality so different from the one that I live every day.

Traveling make me thinking about life and what in our life is really essential. I believe that the relationship with people, our empathy and altruism are the foundation for building an healthy environment and above all to continue to evolve and grow.

Unforgettable moments were those we spent with women of the cooperative and those who work the fruit of the Marula.

Last but not least we had a very close encounter with two giraffes, just out of our lodge and you can imagine my indescribable emotion: another gift that South Africa has so generously given me.

Buongiorno!!!

Oggi continuo a raccontarti il mio viaggio in Sudafrica insieme a Syusy e ti porto a fare un giro nella cittadina di Phalaborwa che si trova nel nord-ovest del Sudafrica proprio nei pressi del Kruger National Park.

Abbiamo avuto una guida d’ eccezione per queste giornate, Daniela del Matimba Bush Lodge, che ci ha fatto conoscere la sua realtà locale tra i piccoli bambini della scuola, i ballerini tradizionale e grandi donne: tutti ci hanno accolti con sorpresa e sorrisi e per noi è stato un momento molto forte per conoscere più da vicino la vita della gente sudafricana in una township, popolazione che per un 92% è di colore.

Il viaggiare ed entrare in una realtà così diversa da quella che vivo tutti i giorni fa sempre fare molte riflessioni sulla vita e di ciò che della nostra vita è veramente essenziale. Credo che il rapporto con le persone, la nostra empatia ed altruismo sono le basi per costruire un’ ambiente sano attorno a noi e soprattutto per continuare ad evolvere e a crescere.

Momenti indimenticabili sono stati quelli trascorsi con le donne della cooperativa tessile e quelle che lavorano il frutto della Marula, uno scambio per lo più di sguardi, ma profondo e di sorellanza.

Dulcis in fundo l’ incontro molto ravvicinato con due giraffe, proprio all’ uscita del nostro lodge è stata un’ emozione indescrivibile, un altro regalo che questo Sudafrica così generoso mi ha donato.

Un abbraccio forte e continua a seguirmi nelle mie avventure.
